I am an employee at Banner and in July 2025, my mother was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Molly was my mother’s oncology nurse. My mother’s battle ended on December 21, but Molly—from the moment we stepped into the door to our last moment, stepping out to her last appointment where she was told she was terminal and that there was nothing else that Banner could do—Molly was there. My mother only chose Banner because of Molly; my mother only chose continuing her care at Banner because of Molly. We were strangers; Molly didn’t know who we were. My mother was just another name in a chart, another MRN number coming to the oncology center for the first time. Molly was the one that my mom always wanted to call when she was in pain, when she was scared, or when she was having trouble, because she trusted Molly. Molly didn’t treat her like a cancer patient; Molly treated her like family. Molly made her feel like she was fighting with her for survival. She made her feel like she wasn’t alone in her cancer battle and that she was behind her 100% at all times and there for her 100% at all times. Today it’s hard for the older generation to trust in their medical team sometimes, and even though Molly was younger than my mom, my mom believed in her in every way. My mom always said she never felt scared cause she knew that she had Molly. As we all know in the healthcare field, some things are beyond our control and the disease does win. But Molly gave my mom the peace of knowing that Banner, which Molly represented, did all that they could to save her life. I hope Molly knows the difference that she made to my mother as she started her end-of-life journey. She is truly an angel here on earth that wears a Banner name tag. My family will always be grateful for what she did and how she helped my mother. Thank you so much, Molly.
