On October 16, 2025, I was involved in a serious bicycle accident. I was transported to the ER trauma room via ambulance. Immediately, I was surrounded by the trauma team who worked quickly and efficiently. I received a whole-body CT scan which showed 13 fractures, hemothorax, pneumothorax, and a hematoma in the left upper and lower quadrants of my abdomen. A chest tube was placed to remove air and blood from my thoracic cavity. I was then transported to the ICU. My care in the ICU for 6 days was outstanding, as was my stay on the stepdown unit. It is apparent that the trauma team is a highly skilled team that works well together. The nursing staff in the ICU and the stepdown unit were skilled, responsive, and caring. The community is blessed to have a Level 1 trauma facility and a competent and dedicated staff. I am confident that they will save lives in our community.
