Roger was one of my husband's nurses in Dec. 2023–Jan. 2024. My husband was hospitalized for almost six weeks, during which time he had surgery for a perforated colon, contracted C. diff, and came down with pneumonia. Additionally, he needed a wound vac due to the surgical wound being reopened. In spite of the horrible ""care"" by Dr. Saltz, Roger and the other nurses rallied to support us through the ordeal. They fought to get him the best care possible and provided emotional support, often coming to check on us during their breaks when assigned to other patients. Having nurses like that for an extended amount of time definitely forms a bond, making them feel like family. When I had to have a procedure yesterday and showed up alone because my husband has pneumonia again, imagine my relief and surprise to see that Roger was my nurse!!! He gave me a big hug when he saw me, asked how my husband was doing and if he had had further complications, and even asked about my job (as a teacher)! Roger has a heart of gold! He loves what he does and cares for patients like they are his friends and family. Roger has a special place in our hearts and we will always remember his kindness, efforts, and treating us like people, not a number.
